When AJ's Horse Country came to be it was supposed to be a lifestyle website for fellow horse lovers. I was going to write about our farm, share some recipes, take pictures of our 4 legged friends, share a few horse showing ideas and maybe sell a few horse, farm and farm life items. Somehow... it ended up just being a website to sell tack. All of the things that were going to make our business unique somehow fell by the wayside.
We did well and sold lots of stuff but we lost sight of what this lifestyle is all about. We were busy and met many people but this isnt what we had in mind. We were doing what was easy and felt natural for us. We had owned businesses before and knew what it was all about, but just running a tack business isn't what we wanted. We wanted to share a lifestyle with other fellow horse lovers. The problem... is that for us sharing our personal life doesn't feel natural. We don't post every good, bad and other thing that happens in our life on social media. But after a long winter and spring, we decided to regroup and once again give this a try.
So our plan is continue our tack business but also work at creating an environment that opens the door for fellow horse lovers. I've been told I am a pretty good cook and Jeff is a food service instructor so we want to share some of our menu items. Some of these may also be awesome food ideas for a horse show. We also want to share and hope you will share with us other horse show ideas. They can make for some long days and anything that can make it easiser I'm sure will be appreciate by fellow showers (show'ers, not showers). We are also gonna share some things that make our farm special to us. Introduce you to all of our 4 legged friends and spend some time walking the fields, woods and wetlands.
Finally, we are going to spend every day living a grateful life. There are a lot of mean spirited people in this world and that evil can be contagious. And for any of you in the horse business, you know that horse showing and breeding can be pretty cut throat. But here is the thing, it doesn't have to be!! We can be kind and helpful and still win a class. We can be caing and sharing and still raise some of the best horses out there. We are thankful for our life and will spend our time sharing good, giving love and being there for others. Hopefully we can help others see that in the end, it isn't about how much money you make, how many "important" people your surround yourself with or how much power you have, it is about being grateful for the opportunity to help others, being surrounded by loved ones and experiencing true joy. We hope you enjoy our journey and are willing to share your's with us.
